Jo Garrison is a Minneapolis based painter focusing on still-life paintings which offer personal narratives intertwined with shared experiences surrounding female identity. With a background in cake decorating, photography and graphic design, their painting practice draws on these disciplines to inform the way she renders and observes gendered objects, interiors, and patterns. They received their BFA in studio Art from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with a minor in Interdisciplinary Design. Garrison is the recipient of an Undergraduate Scholarship Award from the Department of Art and has been exhibited at various Minneapolis galleries and published in The Tower⁠—the University of Minnesota’s art and literary magazine.
